Bone Health

Long-term use of oral bisphosphonates to treat osteoporosis has been linked to osteonecrosis of the
jaw, a rare disease that destroys the jaw. These latest findings follow a position statement issued
by the American Association of Endodontists last month that recommends dental surgeons to consider
patients who are on bisphosphonates to be at risk for serious jaw deterioration.
To prevent painful bone deterioration and optimize bone health without resorting to potentially harmful prescription medication, the National Osteoporosis Foundation recommends strengthening living bone with a blend of bone essential nutrients such as magnesium, vitamin D and calcium, and weight-bearing exercise which places demands on bones and plays a key role in stimulating bone growth.
