Spring is upon us and, while most of us won't lose the extra 10 (20) pounds before the official start of bathing suit season, there are treatments that we can do to get ready for sundresses, sandals and sun.

Let's take it from head to toe. For starters, go to Salon11. Studios in Dunwoody and get a hair exfoliation and restoration treatment. The Schwarzkopf Professional is a two-step restorative treatment that repairs weakened and damaged hair structures resulting in healthy, smooth and shiny hair. The first step is a gentle exfoliating pre-treatment to remove damaged cuticle fragments using papaya extracts. The second is the repair rescue collagen therapy, which reinforces the hair structure, restores the natural elasticity and strengthens damaged hair.

Don't want to battle humidity and hair frizzies? Go to Paragon Salon and Spa for Japanese hair straightening. Brenda Walters, treatment specialists, says that the straightening can “change your life.” The treatment, which can take up to five hours, costs between $400 and $700 depending on your hair. “But it'll take your right through the season,” Walters says.

What's summer without a tan? Nothing. What's a tan without wrinkling? An airbrush tan. Mila European Spa offers the latest in safe tanning. The Fantasy Tan is the most realistic sunless tan ever created, says owner Mila Astrova. Paired with a sea salt scrub, the specially made airbrush atomized the fantasy tan formula into cooling vapor that assures an even application. The tan can last between 7 to 10 days and there are no known harmful side effects. The salon customizes your tanning color to fit your skin tone and desired darkness.

Spring is a perfect time to get a facial and Spa Sydell is the place to go. Marie Allen, Spa Sydell director of education and esthetician, says a woman has a variety of options ranging from a deep cleaning and moisturizing to chemical exfoliations. “It's important to have an analysis of your skin and discuss what you want,” she says. There are a variety of scrubs and peels that not only take away dead skin but also a little bit of live cells. That way the cells start rejuvenating on their own. The signature scrub features a glycolic or pumpkin peel and a collagen blanket.

Now that your skin is glowing, what about your body? Time to scruff off dead skin and there are a number of salons offering wonderful body treatments. The Four Seasons H0otel just opened its spa and its signature body treatment takes your through the four seasons of life. Winter is a cooling scrub to the back, hands and feet, leading into spring and a warming floral body wrap. Next is summer, featuring a medley of massage techniques, including Lomi Lomi, Thai massage, reflexology and aromatherapy. Autumn finishes up the treatment. Also, be sure to try its bamboo clarifying buff, a gentle, hydrating scrub containing bamboo, sugar cane and shea butter that rids the skin's surface of toxins, leaving, it soft, smooth and toned.

Shear Amore Salon & Spa in Roswell offers an Oleaslim Body Wrap that not only detoxifies the body but slims as well. Some clients have lost three inches following a treatment. And, a wonderful feature of Shear Amore is that they have onsite babysitters.

Natural Body Spa and Shoppe, with several locations through metro Atlanta, offers wonderful body treatments including the Naturopathica bamboo lemongrass body scrub. Lemongrass and bamboo are blended to make this foaming exfoliating scrub effective in sloughing away calloused or flaky skin. Included is a message with lemongrass ginger oil. Another great treatment is the spa's Jurlique Rest & Rejuvenation Body treatment, which works on anti-aging, detoxifying and exfoliating. Warm essential oil compresses prepare the body while Jurlique's OPC gel penetrates the skin helping to detoxify and aid circulation. The treatment is followed by OPC mud mask and wrap. Time for the feet.

Go to Honey Nail Salon & Boutique for its custom blended organic sugar scrubs that are part of its pedicures. Try the Worker Bee pedicure that includes a 10-minute foot and leg massage or the Queen Bee pedicure that includes a custom foot mask and your very own neck pillow.
