Atlanta Woman magazine names new publisher

Elisabeth L. Marchant once again takes the reigns for Atlanta's only magazine, website, video broadband channel, and events designed exclusively for professional and civic-minded women.

ATLANTA – March 24, 2008 – Atlanta Woman magazine has come full circle in more ways than one.

When Billian Publishing purchased Atlanta Woman a little more than a year ago, Dabney Hollis became its publisher. Since then, she has rebuilt its foundation with strong content, a renewed online presence and original events.

However, after some recent health challenges, Hollis has made the tough decision to step down as publisher, although she will remain in an advisory role.

"We are extremely grateful to Dabney for helping Atlanta Woman rebuild itself to become the leading publication for Atlanta's women executives and are excited to have her continue in an advisory capacity," says Jay Perkins, president and chief operating officer of Billian Publishing.

"Thankfully we were able to quickly fill this tremendous void that Dabney's departure created because only one name kept popping up in conversations with key supporters of Atlanta Woman ," Perkins adds. "While Dabney brought the magazine back to the success that it once experienced, we now return to the publisher that first made it successful."

Elisabeth L. Marchant, who helped launch Atlanta Woman in 2003 and became its first publisher, is now returning to the position to continue the magazine's success.

A passionate supporter of the magazine over the years, Marchant is known throughout the region as a top publishing executive with more than a decade of experience as an industry leader. For the past few years she has served as executive director for the corporate and nonprofit division of Multicast Media Networks, which specializes in broadband media.

Marchant began her career with Marchant's Inc., a second-generation, family-owned business specializing in commercial construction. After 20 years in the business, she stepped out on her own to launch b3 Magazine, a national publication about technology and geared toward C-level executives; it also produced 15 executive conferences throughout the United States. In 2000, Marchant joined The Leader Publishing Group, where she served as publisher of Business to Business , launched Atlanta Woman and eventually was named president and CEO of the company.

Marchant has received numerous community honors, including the YMCA's Academy of Women Achievers, the Atlanta Business Chronicle's Top 10 Women in Business and is a member of the 2004 class of Leadership Atlanta. She is also deeply involved throughout the Atlanta community, having served on boards for the Atlanta Community Food Bank, the Henry W. Grady Hospital Foundation, and on many others.

"Dabney and I share a vision for what Atlanta Woman should and can be. She has done an amazing job rebuilding the magazine's integrity. I am honored to have the opportunity to rejoin the Atlanta Woman team and continue her efforts." Marchant says. "We will continue to make the magazine, the website, the online component and the events the leading source for Atlanta's female executives. Atlanta Woman will be the voice where women convene in print, in person and online."

"This was a very hard decision for me to make," Hollis says. "I have poured so much of myself into this publication, but I had to do what was right for myself and my family. I take great comfort in knowing that I am leaving Atlanta Woman in great hands. Elisabeth is a wonderful leader and will continue to guide Atlanta Woman down successful avenues."
