Denise Ray has been named chief operating officer and senior vice president of
Piedmont Hospital. Ray’s responsibilities include planning, coordination and
implementation of hospital clinical operations. Ray received her associate of science degree
in nursing from Dalton State College in Dalton.
Jill Shields has been promoted to senior vice president of marketing and
promotions for
Turner Broadcasting System Inc.’s Animation, Young Adults and Kids Media. In her
expanded role, Shields will be responsible for developing and executing promotional marketing
programs that support ad sales and revenue goals across all the businesses within the division.
Shields previously served as vice president of promotions, marketing and sponsorships for the
Cartoon Network and Adult Swim.

Celia Tully, managing director of marketing for Natural Body Spa and Shop, has been appointed to the board of directors for Earth Share of Georgia, an organization dedicated to environmental protection through workplace campaigns.
HLB Gross Collins P.C., an Atlanta-based certified public accounting and consulting firm, has admitted Sheryl A. Shepherd, CPA, to its partner group as a principal. Shepherd came to the firm in 1997 with six years of public accounting experience and three years of experience as a controller for a technology company.
Atlanta's Peachtree Club has announced that Raising the Bar president and founder Robin Hensley has been appointed as the organization's representative to the advisory board of the Atlanta Society, a network of private clubs.

Collins, who most recently was a partner with Alston & Bird LLP, is a trial advocate whose practice includes insurance litigation, class action litigation, complex commercial and business litigation, and securities litigation with an emphasis on the responsibilities of directors and officers in privately and publicly held corporations.

HD Supply, a leading wholesale distribution company, announced that Margaret "Meg" Newman, vice president of human resources, has been named senior vice president of human resources. In this role, Newman is responsible for the development and implementation of human resource strategies and programs that support core business objectives, including employee relations, staffing and development, compensation, diversity management, talent assessment and process excellence.
Newman joined HD Supply in April 2007 and helped lead the company through its divestiture from The Home Depot, creating a new benefits platform and annual enrollment process, leading a cross-functional team through the completion of a human resources systems conversion and reorganizing the HR team to better align with the new structure of an independent company.
Toby Parker, an Atlanta native and a five-generation life member of Hadassah, has been installed as president of Greater Atlanta Hadassah.

Shonta Chambers has been elected to the American Heart Association, Greater Southeast Affiliate, board of directors for the 2008-2009 fiscal year. Chambers is the interim health promotion section director with the Office of Healthy Behaviors in the Division of Public Health of the Georgia Department of Human Resources.
