Pearson, the distinguished anchor of WSB-TV Channel 2 Action News, is just as well known for her civic work. She is a tireless volunteer for a number of nonprofits, including the United Way, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Meals on Wheels, Families First, the Northwest Georgia Girl Scouts and Exodus. Every week, this award-winning journalist is reading to first graders at the Lenora P. Miles Elementary School.
Joining Pearson, were 20 WOW (Women on the Way) honorees, who are listed below. Who is a WOW woman? According to Atlanta Woman publisher Elisabeth Marchant, “She is a woman who is in the pipeline of corporations and nonprofits; she has not reached the pinnacle of her professional career but is climbing the corporate ladder. Her career is on a trajectory upward, and she has been identified by her company as a future leader. She is a ‘Woman on the Way’.”
Marchant describes this year’s 20 WOW women as a force to be reckoned with. “From architects to lawyers, financial to flight, each WOW woman has her own inspiring story. One was born to civil rights activists. One speaks five languages. There is a 3-time Emmy award winner, a 2008 World Series Poker player and a WNBA coach. The personal accomplishments of these 20 women run the gamut and take many different forms but one common thread ties them together — they are on their way to the top. Atlanta Woman is thrilled to share their stories as inspiration for other professional women in Atlanta.”
